What to Expect

  1. Spring Application

  • We assess turf condition, thinning areas, and general lawn health before the first treatment.

  • We relieve compaction and open the soil so air, water, and nutrients can reach the root zone more effectively.

  • We apply fertilizer to support steady, healthy growth without the rollercoaster effect of short-lived feeding.

  • We spread quality grass seed across the lawn to improve density, fill thin areas, and encourage a fuller appearance.

  • We spot treat areas of the lawn that have high acidity (Ph), leading to yellowing, burnt spots or areas that have difficulty growing grass. This is often caused by pet urine or pine trees. Lime helps to balance out the Ph of the soil.

  • Beneficial Nematodes are a beneficial organism that feed on grubs. Grubs are known to eat grass roots, which kill your lawn and also attract skunks and other rodents that dig up your lawn looking for a tasty grub dinner. We use nematodes to dramatically reduce the grub population in your lawn.

2. Summer Application

  • We apply a summer fertilizer formula to support steady, healthy growth with a green thick lawn, without the rollercoaster effect of short-lived feeding or having to mow too much more.

  • As an additional service, de-thatching (aka power raking) is the mechanical removal of dead thatch/grass that mat down beneath your grass, which hinders the absorption of water, nutrients, and air. De-thatching removes all that thatch and allows your lawn to breathe, drink and take in nutrients again leading to a healthier, greener and more lush lawn.

3. FALL Application

  • Fall feeding supports root strength and helps the lawn store energy for the next growing season.

  • A second aeration helps relieve late-season soil compaction and prepares the lawn for stronger recovery after the winter.

  • A second over-seeding helps improve turf thickness and supports recovery after summer stress. It also supports a stronger spring growth cycle.

Price of Lawn Care Packages In ontario

How much do annual lawn care packages cost?

Pricing for annual lawn care packages depends on lawn size, current condition, product volume, and how much seasonal support your property needs. Unlike concrete or sealing services, lawn care programs are typically priced by seasonal package or lawn-size bracket, not just a flat square-foot rate.

Our lawn care plans are designed to make pricing simple, with clear package options and fast online quoting based on your property.

Average Pricing Ranges in Ontario

For professionally managed annual lawn care programs in Ontario, most homeowners can expect the following general ranges:

Essential Plan (5 Applications):
$250 – $500 per season
Best for homeowners who want the core seasonal essentials to keep a lawn healthy, green, and well-fed.

Standard Plan (6 Applications):
$350 – $650 per season
Includes everything in Essential, plus additional late-season support such as fall aeration for stronger root recovery.

Gold Plan (7 Applications):
$450 – $850+ per season
Built for homeowners who want the most complete annual program, including the strongest support for lawn density and seasonal recovery.

Approximate Price Per Square Foot

Lawn care packages are not usually sold on a pure square-foot basis, but for comparison purposes, a typical professionally serviced lawn program often works out to about:

Essential: $0.05 – $0.10 per sq ft per season
Standard: $0.07 – $0.13 per sq ft per season
Gold: $0.09 – $0.17+ per sq ft per season

These ranges are best understood as seasonal averages, not hard fixed rates. Smaller lawns often price higher per square foot because of minimum visit and mobilization costs, while larger lawns usually benefit from better per-square-foot value.

Estimated Costs by Lawn Size

Small Lawn (up to ~2,500 sq ft):
Essential: $199 – $325
Standard: $275 – $425
Gold: $350 – $550

Medium Lawn (~2,500–5,000 sq ft):
Essential: $325 – $500
Standard: $425 – $650
Gold: $550 – $850

Large Lawn (~5,000–8,000 sq ft):
Essential: $500 – $700
Standard: $650 – $900
Gold: $850 – $1,150+

Minimum service charges may apply for smaller properties.

What affects pricing?

Lawn Size – Larger lawns require more product, more labour, and more time per visit.

Current Lawn Condition – Thin, stressed, compacted, or patchy lawns often need heavier product use or more recovery-focused service.

Package Level – Higher-tier plans include more applications and stronger seasonal reinforcement.

Service Mix – Aeration and overseeding add more value than fertilizer-only programs, but they also increase labour and material costs.

Access & Complexity – Tight gates, steep grades, fragmented turf areas, or unusual layouts may affect final pricing.

Tip for Homeowners

The best-value lawn care package is not always the cheapest one up front. A better-timed annual plan can improve turf density, strengthen root systems, and reduce the need for more expensive corrective work later on.

FAQs

  • Our annual lawn care packages are built around the core services most Ontario lawns need to stay healthy, thick, and green through the season. Every plan includes core aeration, slow-release fertilization, and full lawn overseeding — applied at the right times across spring, summer, and fall. The Essential Plan covers 5 applications, the Standard Plan covers 6, and the Gold Plan covers 7. Each plan is designed to build on the last, so you can choose the level of care that fits your lawn and your goals.

  • All three plans share the same spring foundation: core aeration, fertilization, and overseeding, plus summer fertilization and fall fertilization. The Standard Plan adds fall core aeration for stronger late-season root recovery. The Gold Plan includes everything in the Standard Plan plus fall overseeding, giving your lawn a second seeding to maximize turf density and set up a stronger spring. The more your lawn needs, the more the Gold Plan delivers.

  • The Essential Plan includes 5 applications, the Standard Plan includes 6 applications, and the Gold Plan includes 7 applications. Each application is a distinct treatment —aeration, fertilization, or overseeding — scheduled at the optimal point in the growing season to give your lawn the best chance to respond and recover.

  • Core aeration is the process of pulling small plugs of soil out of your lawn to relieve compaction. Compacted soil blocks water, air, and nutrients from reaching the roots — which leads to thin, stressed turf. By opening up the soil, aeration improves drainage, encourages deeper root growth, and makes every other treatment — fertilizer, seed — more effective.

Most Ontario lawns benefit from aeration at least once a year. Our Standard and Gold plans include a second aeration in the fall for even stronger results.

  • Slow-release fertilizer is formulated to break down gradually over several weeks rather than delivering a quick burst of nutrients all at once. That steady release supports consistent, healthy growth without the rollercoaster effect — where your lawn shoots up after a fast-release application and then fades quickly. It also means less risk of over-feeding or burning the turf. We use slow-release formulas for all three seasonal applications: spring, summer, and fall.

  • Overseeding spreads quality grass seed across your entire lawn — not just bare patches — to improve overall density, fill in thin areas, and encourage a fuller, more uniform appearance. Lawns naturally thin out over time from foot traffic, summer heat, and seasonal stress. Overseeding counteracts that thinning and keeps your turf competitive against weeds. The Gold Plan adds a second overseeding in the fall, which supports recovery after summer and gives the lawn a head start in spring.

  • It depends on your lawn's current condition and what you want to achieve. The Essential Plan is a strong foundation for lawns that are generally healthy and need consistent seasonal care. The Standard Plan is the most popular choice — it adds fall aeration, which makes a noticeable difference in how well the lawn recovers going into winter and bounces back in spring. The Gold Plan is best for lawns that have experienced significant thinning, stress, or patchiness, or for homeowners who want the highest level of seasonal investment.

If you're not sure, our quote tool can help, or reach out and we'll point you in the right direction.

  • Yes. You can enhance any plan with optional add-on services based on your lawn's specific needs. Available add-ons include lime treatment for lawns with high soil acidity, grub control using beneficial nematodes for properties with grub damage or skunk activity, and dethatching (power raking) to remove the layer of dead thatch that blocks water and nutrients from reaching the soil. These are discussed during your quote or after your lawn assessment.

  • Pricing is based on your lawn size, turf condition, and the plan you choose. We use an Instant Online Quote tool that gives you a clear, property-based price without waiting for a callback or an in-person estimate. Just enter your address and lawn size at goldstandardpros.com/instant-quote and you'll see your options immediately.

  • In Ontario, the best times for core aeration are spring and fall — when the soil is moist and the grass is actively growing, which allows the lawn to recover quickly and take full advantage of the open soil channels. Spring aeration sets the lawn up for the growing season. Fall aeration helps the roots strengthen before winter and supports a faster recovery in spring. All three of our plans include spring aeration, and the Standard and Gold plans add a fall aeration for maximum benefit.
