Lawn Recovery Services in Ontario – Dethatching, Overseeding, Fertilization & Aeration
Fix patchy spots, restore soil health, and bring your lawn back to life this Spring or Fall
Lawn recovery process
The process starts with dethatching (power raking) to lift and remove layers of dead grass, thatch, and shallow-rooted weeds. Once the entire lawn is raked through, we blow, rake, and bag all debris, leaving the soil surface exposed for optimal seed-to-soil contact. This step also ensures that fertilizer, water, and nutrients can reach both your new seedlings and your existing root system. If you’ve chosen our Recovery+ package, we immediately follow with core aeration, relieving soil compaction and creating direct pathways for air, water, and nutrients to penetrate deep into the roots. Next, we overseed with a premium turfgrass blend designed for Canadian climates, thickening your lawn and filling in bare patches. To finish, we apply a professional-grade fertilizer or soil enhancer that provides essential nutrients, helping your lawn recover quickly and thrive through the season.

6. Top Dressing and Soil Additives (Add ons)
-
We apply high quality, triple mulch top dressing soil, as needed, to areas that require better soil, more seed to soil contact and further nutrient additives.

🌿 Why Lawn Recovery is Essential in Ontario
Ontario’s climate is tough on lawns. Long winters, hot summers, and clay-heavy soils create the perfect conditions for patchy, thinning turf. Over time, thatch builds up, weeds creep in, and compacted soil prevents water and nutrients from reaching your grass roots.
Without seasonal recovery services, your lawn struggles to stay healthy and green. That’s why our Lawn Recovery Packages focus on the three key elements every Ontario lawn needs: dethatching, overseeding, and fertilization — with aeration included in Recovery+ for maximum results.
🌱 The Benefits of Overseeding, Dethatching & Aeration
Dethatching
Removing dead grass and surface debris gives your lawn room to breathe. Dethatching reduces disease risk, improves water absorption, and ensures new seeds make direct contact with the soil.
Overseeding
Adding fresh seed every season is one of the easiest ways to thicken turf and crowd out weeds naturally. We use premium turfgrass blends suited to Canadian seasons, giving your lawn improved colour, density, and resilience.
Aeration (Recovery+ only)
Core aeration is the secret to long-term lawn health. By pulling plugs of soil from your yard, aeration relieves compaction and creates channels for air, water, and nutrients to reach deep into the root zone. This leads to stronger, deeper roots — exactly what Ontario lawns need to survive tough weather.
Fertilization & Soil Enhancers
Even healthy lawns need nutrition. Our recovery process ends with a professional fertilizer or soil amendment to boost seed germination and strengthen your existing root system.
🏡 When to Book a Lawn Recovery Package
The best times for lawn recovery in Ontario are spring (April–May) and fall (September). These seasons provide the perfect soil temperatures and moisture conditions for seed germination and root growth.
Spring Recovery – jump-starts your lawn after winter stress, repairing salt damage, thinning, and compaction.
Fall Recovery – strengthens your lawn before winter, improves density, and ensures a greener start the following spring.

FAQs
-
Recovery includes dethatching, overseeding, and fertilization. Recovery+ adds core aeration, which improves soil health and root growth for longer-lasting results.
-
Most homeowners notice new seedlings within 7–14 days and a visibly thicker lawn within 2–4 weeks.
-
While dethatching and overseeding alone can improve a lawn, aeration is the best way to fix compacted soil. If your lawn gets heavy traffic, has clay soil, or drains poorly, Recovery+ is strongly recommended.
-
Yes! We blow, rake, and bag the loosened debris so your lawn is clean and ready for overseeding.
-
The key is watering: daily for the first 2 weeks (lightly), then every other day until seedlings are established. Avoid mowing until the new grass is at least 3 inches tall.
-
No problem at all! That’s exactly why we created two different options: Recovery (without aeration) and Recovery+ (with aeration included). If you’ve already had your lawn aerated this year, you can still benefit from dethatching, overseeding, and fertilization with our standard Recovery package.
And if you’re wondering whether aeration can be done more than once — the answer is yes. Many Ontario lawns, especially those with clay soil or heavy foot traffic, benefit from aeration twice per year (spring and fall). Multiple aerations are perfectly safe and often improve long-term lawn health.
